Is Kinky getting serious on us?

I know that I will not be voting for "Pretty Boy" Perry or Carole "Four Names" in the upcoming November election. As far as I'm concerned they, along with their political agendas, can go jump in a lake. I'm neutral about Chris Bell. Besides, it seems like he's dropped off the face of Texas. Haven't heard much from him lately. And then there is Kinky Friedman.

It looks like the Kinkster might be getting a touch of seriousness. It seems that Kinky may have come up with a platform of sorts. He lists fair ballot access to make it easier for independent candidates, fair debates, voter initiative and referendum process, same-day voter registration, redistricting and lobbying reforms and publicly funded campaigns as his priorities. Sounds good to me (although I'm still curious how he can get all that done in four years). Well, as they say, the devil is in the details.

I'm hoping that once people start to realize what this "fabulous" new tax plan really does, that Texans will started to get pissed off. "Pretty Boy" Perry talks about all this money to be saved. First, his numbers are flawed. Second, they are sticking small businesses with the bill. Way to make the little guy pay (and pay and pay). Carole "Four Names" has already started counting the problems (and monetary shortcomings). Let's hope they can shoot one another in the foot (politically speaking, of course).

This leaves us with "No Press" Bell and the "Newly Serious" Kinkster. All I can say is it takes a plurality to win...

You know, I'm almost tempted to move to Texas just so I could vote for Kinky. ("Asshole from El Paso" is my fav country song.) The only thing holding me back is that law where you can no longer carry concealed weapons into public buildings.

Do you think a silly law like that would stop a true gun toting Texan?

First, I'd like to thank you for posting a stolen list to my blog. And just so you know, conservatives whine too.

Second, your list is misleading at best. Here's why (item by item):
1. Who cares? Lots of people switch parties. Both “Pretty Boy” Perry and Carole “Four Names” were once Democrats.
2. Kinky may have liked Bush 2004, but he also supported Clinton and campaigned for Ann Richards. He has not voted in 12 years. So he could not have voted for Bush.
3. He may have supported Bush's middle east policy, but not his domestic policy. Besides, last time I checked the Governor of Texas doesn't make foreign policy decisions. He also said that in 2000, he supported Gore not Bush.
4. This point is true because has not voted in 12 years.
5. Kinky hasn't voted for anyone from 1994 to 2004. Therefore, he hasn't voted for any Republicans during this time either.
6 and 7. This is unconstitutional. School prayer and posting the 10 commandments do not belong in public schools or any government building. Kinky can want this all day long, but it ain't going to last if he could do it.
8. Actually, he thinks political correctness has wussified us. And this video is just plain ridiculous.
9. Kinky is right that Mexico has done a poor job of taking care of its own citizens, but he doesn't "know how to deal with illegal aliens from Mexico."
10. Do you know how long the border is? How in the world can five Mexican Generals stop illegal immigration when the border patrol and now the National Reserve can’t stop it. I suppose you think building a wall and taking away every Mexican’s shovel might be a viable solution too.

Even though this is not your top 10 list (you said you stole it), I will agree that Perry did just sign the biggest tax increase in Texas after spending millions of dollars on several unsuccessful special sessions. Not that this last one was successful by any means...
