Pineapple Reporting For Duty
Of course, I'm still on the fence about this whole job thing. I have to get up and go to work for 8 whole days (7 to go) before I get any paid holidays. They are total slave drivers! Other than the whole unreasonableness of their willingness to give out paid holidays like candy and everyone I work with is nice (and it isn't just temporary behavior because this pineapple did a background check on these people -- or maybe I just talked to a former employee), I think this whole job thing might work out. I'm not exactly sure what my job really is, but I'm pretty sure I will be able to do it. At least I'm confident that once they give me a computer to produce actual work product that I will be able to do my job. Ain't government work swell?

With any luck, they'll forget to get you a computer and you can just pretend to be working. On the other hand, no computer means you can't check your personal e-mail, update your blog or any of that stuff. So I guess it's a toss up.
government work is the greatest. i remember one of my first jobs answering the phone at a government office - i got paid 25 bucks at age 19 when i should've been making the great switch from McDonalds cashier to Starbucks barista
in my current (but on-hold) career, i have a love/hate relationship with the government peoples as they "govern" my entire industry and every move we make. they have those sticks shoved very far up their bums - i love to bug them with conversations about how i don't have to wear a tie and i can eat real food at my desk and i get drunk with my boss at lunch then go home, cuz i feel like it.
they are just as bad though. when i call them from my office, they put me on hold, only to take me off hold and hang up in my ear when the clock strikes 4pm.
damn, i miss them.
mad: when I got to work this morning, the computer was there but still in the box. who knows when someone will come to hook it up...
huckdoll: i can't get drunk at lunch, but I don't have to dress up and I can eat at my desk. pretty sweet deal even without the liquid lunches!
