Bananas!
Apparently lots of things wash up on shore in the Netherlands. First it was the Giant Lego Man and now it is bananas -- and lots of them. Thousands of Cuban bananas have washed up on the shore of two Dutch North Sea islands. It seems that this is nothing unusual for Terschelling island (one of the now banana rich islands). Last year thousands of tennis shoes, aluminum briefcases and children's toys washed ashore. And twenty years ago it was sweaters. Awesome.

Just think of all that healthy food and all the potassium. How many people would it take ti eat all of that. Let's face it, those bananas dont last long.
I agree what a waste of food.
I organized my county's first ever beach clean up a few years back. You wouldn't believe the stuff we took off that beach. Kids toys to old tires to tons of fishing line and nets. Now it's a yearly event.
So much of that stuff was deadly for ocean creatures.
jill: they are pretty green so they should last for a bit, but because they have been floating around in the sea they might be a bit salty...
pop: I'm sure if they are still good they will do something with them. I read that people are pushing to donate them to a zoo if they are still edible. Cool about the beach clean up -- you are set in the karma department!
Either or a zoo or somebody's going to have bake an awful lot of banana bread once they all get too ripe.
mmmmmmmmmmmm! banana bread!
If they'd washed up here, they'd already be on a boat on the way back to Cuba.
I guess that adds new meaning to the term Banana Republic.
oh yeah, and one other thing.....you'd HAVE to be "bananas" to go to the Netherlands shore. really really boring.....no cabana boys, no festive drinks, no.....nothin'.
nervana: maybe if you smoke enough pot you will think there are cabana boys and festive drinks.
mad: ha ha ha ha!
But did they ever find Wilson?
(reference to Castaway... Sorry Nervana!)
I'm glad you told me what you are talking about because as a general rule I don't watch Tom Hanks movies. I would make an exception if he did a Bosom Buddies Movie...
